To Missoula, with Love
a postcard show
Perhaps nothing is as deceptively simple as the postcard. Both intimate and public, verbal and visual, this traditional means of communicating from afar has almost become an act of rebellion in a culture of Skyping and texting.
What better way to wind down the summer than to pay homage to this disappearing process of correspondence? “What do you have to share with Missoula, Montana? “ was the question put out there. The responses poured in from strangers, loved ones, neighbors, people across the sea.
Every artist who sent work has something on display. Every person who sent a postcard has something on display. A completely egalitarian show in an art gallery. The question remains as to whether or not these works are art. Perhaps nothing is as deceptively simple as the postcard.
Yaro Shon C. Neils
Exhibition Curator

To Missoula, with Love
a postcard show
Guest curator Yaro Neils has asked artists across the country and beyond to make a visual contribution to the community of Missoula via the old-fashioned art of correspondence.
